Gogoi strongly condemned the recent incidents of racial attacks on people from the North East saying, “Such dastardly attacks on our people in Delhi and other places outside the region are most despicable and reprehensible. Such racial attacks send out wrong signals besides acting to alienate people from the region from the mainstream of the country.”
He called for stern action against the perpetrators of such racial attacks and advocated for enactment of a deterrent law to prevent such racial attacks on North East youth in Delhi and other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, several others organisations in the state including the All Assam Students’ Union and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad have also condemned the fresh attacks and criticised the Union government and respective state governments for failing to protect the lives and dignity of North Eastern youth.
These organisations demanded that the government must act appropriately to prevent such racial attacks on youth from the North East in the rest of the country.
