Indian national Kafeel Ahmed, who drove a burning jeep into the Glasgow airport last year and succumbed to his injuries weeks later, had sent an email to his Liverpool-based brother Sabeel before he embarked on his deadly mission.

Kafeel began the email by asking for Sabeel's forgiveness for keeping his plans from the latter. "It was for your safety and for the sake of the project," Kafeel wrote.

Sabeel Ahmed, a doctor and one of the accused in Britain's botched car bombing case, on Friday admitted to withholding information that could have prevented an act of terrorism.

Sabeel, who worked at Halton hospital in Runcorn, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey court here and admitted that he had failed to inform the police regarding the terrorist attack.

Kafeel, in the email, went on to request Sabeel to do two things: Pray to Allah for "acceptance of my deeds" and pray to Allah "to give you calm and composure and strength (for you will need this)".

Kafeel urged his brother in the email not to inform any one "about me or my deed (and I mean any one)". He went on to add: "If they figure out it was me, (I have tried to clear up my tracks as much as possible), then go ahead and tell them whatever they ask of you (about my PhD and the project on global warming and my trip to Iceland and give them my computer if they ask).

"And of course this is going to put you in trouble (Allah forbid). Say only that which is necessary. And please don't argue! Try to continue as normal but appear 'shocked'," Kafeel wrote.

The mail further read, "Try to put off telling Abbu-Ammi (their parents) for as long as possible. I am sorry for putting you in this situation. But it's about time that we give up our lives and our families for the sake of Islam to please Allah. And you will inshallah get the reward for this!"

Kafeel reminded Sabeel that if the police did not figure out who was responsible for the incident "then keep me alive for as long as possible!"

"For this you will just need to continue with the story that I am in Iceland. Continue to tell Abbu-Ammi that I am ok and have been delayed for 3-4 weeks there".

After reaching home, presumably in Bangalore, Kafeel wrote to Sabeel that he would pass on his will to "Abbu, Ammi and Petli. As for the rest of my family and friends, try to maintain anonymity and keep me alive in Iceland (or where ever!!)".

Kafeel wrote that if he were caught, then Sabeel should try to remain calm. If asked, he should repeat "my story of PhD and project on global warming," he added.

Kafeel's email read: "At any time, don't hold back from joining the Jihad, by money, words and actions. Allah makes it easy for those who do so. This is the Project that I was working on for some time now ... Alhamdulillah [praise God]. Every thing else was a lie! And I hope you can all forgive me for being such a good liar!!"

"It was necessary, Just so that you know Alhamdulillah Everything since last week were executed by me and my team (this is confidential) on behalf of our Amir".

Kafeel cautioned Sabeel that in case he (Kafeel) was caught, "please delete the email before reading. Otherwise please delete once you have gone through".

Kafeel signed off the email with the words: "Your brother, Abu Abdurahman".
