Strongly protesting the reported assault on Indians in Germany recently, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday asked the Centre to summon the German Ambassador to protest against the attack.

"We should take strong action in the case," senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said at a press conference in New Delhi.

"We feel that the Nazi forces are again raising their head in Germany. We should have summoned the German Ambassador and lodged our protest against the incident,"  she said.

Narrating the incident, Swaraj said, "According to media reports, at least 50 Germans chased Indian eight Indians and assaulted them. All of them were badly injured in the attack," she said.

"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should have spoken to the German Chancellor and ensured swift action. Instead, the matter was left to the ministry of external affairs," she said.

The BJP leader said she did not expect such treatment from Germans.

"Many German multinational organisations are operating in India. Youngsters are going to many countries, including Germany, for jobs. But we do not expect this kind of treatment to our youngsters by the Germans. While the Indians were being beaten, the Germans shouted the slogan 'Go back to India'," she said.
