Delhi Police on Friday night arrested the brother of former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda, who is accused of abetting the suicide of his former employee Geetika Sharma, for protecting him.
"We have arrested Govind Kanda," Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) P Karunakaran told PTI.
Sources said Govind was arrested for allegedly providing a safe haven to Kanda, who was evading police for the past nine days in connection with the suicide case.
Hours before the arrest, Govind told reporters that his brother is going to surrender before Delhi Police soon.
Geetika, 23, a former air hostess with Kanda's now defunct MDLR Airline who hanged self at her Ashok Vihar residence on the night of August 5, had alleged in her suicide note that she was ending her life due to harassment by Kanda and MDLR official Aruna Chaddha.
The Haryana politician had recruited the victim as an air hostess in 2006 in MDLR and within a short span of time, made her a director in another group firm which is into hotel business.
