The Delhi police on Tuesday once again failed before a court in New Delhi to get the custody of Aruna Chaddha to confront her with fresh documents recovered at the behest of Gopal Kanda, former Haryana minister and key accused in Geetika Sharma suicide case.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate D K Jangala dismissed police's plea for two-day police custody of Chaddha.
The fresh plea of the Delhi police was rejected, a day after the magistrate's court on Tuesday refused the investigators custodial interrogation of Chaddha to confront her with Kanda.
In the application on Tuesday, the police said they have recovered fresh facts and documents with which they want to confront Chaddha.
The court then remanded her to judicial custody till August 30.
The court had on Monday rejected the police plea for her custody saying it was not satisfied with the application and had sent her to judicial custody for a day.
Kanda was sent to seven-day police custody on August 18 following his surrender and subsequent arrest and as a part of the probe, he was taken to various places, including his offices in Haryana from where the Delhi police claimed to have recovered certain documents including various electronic devices.
Chaddha was arrested on August 8 when she was called by the police for questioning and was later sent to judicial custody on August 16 for 14 days.
Twenty-three-year-old Geetika, a former airhostess, was found hanging in her flat in North West Delhi on August 5.
In the suicide note found at her residence, she had said she was ending her life due to "harassment" by Kanda and now-defunct airlines MDLR official Aruna Chaddha. Both Kanda and Chaddha have been accused of abetting Geetika's suicide.
