At least five to six Naxalites are suspected to have been killed or injured in an exchange of fire that took place at Pomke Tadgaon in Bhamragarah taluka in Gadchiroli district on Wednesday morning, the police said.
A group of Naxalites opened indiscriminate firing on a police party, which retaliated the attack, they said.
The encounter lasted for about half an hour and the police recovered three self-loading guns, two grenades and some Naxal material from the spot after Naxals fled, they said. The police also found bloodstains at the spot and are suspecting that at least five to six Naxalites either might have been killed or injured during the encounter.Chidambaram vows to confront Naxals
