At least 20 people were killed and 15 injured in a fire on Saturday at a crackers manufacturing unit near Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu, local officials and police sources said.
The fire started in the afternoon at the Vadivel Fireworks Factory at Meenampatti village in Virudhunagar district, 70 km from Madurai.
The flames were visible at least 5 km from the spot.
The victims were all factory workers.
The injured have been rushed to the government hospital in Sivakasi.
