Fire broke out at a commercial building, housing a number of shops at the ground floor, at Chandni area in central part of the metropolis on Tuesday evening, fire brigade sources said.
Ten fire tenders had been put into service to douse the flame. Nobody was injured.
The cause of the fire and extent of damages were yet to be ascertained, the sources said.
Mayor Sovan Chattopadhyay and Disaster Management Minister Javed Khan visited the area and supervised fire fighting operation, police said.
