Maulvi Hussain Umarji's son was jubilant over his father being acquitted in the Godhra case.
"From the very beginning, due to faulty investigation of the agencies, my old father was confined to prison for eight long years. I think a big injustice was done to us," Saeed Umarji, son of Syed Hassan Umarji, said.
"Ultimately, our faith in the judiciary further got strengthened today," he added.
Meanwhile, Congress state president Siddharth Patel said "We do not want to comment on the Godhra train carnage judgement as it has not been the policy of Congress."But, definitely there are some issues revolving around this judgement."
"If the state government and police had worked vigilantly, the 63 acquitted in this case today would not have had to undergo this ordeal," he said.
"We, since the beginning have been saying that the culprits should be brought to book and no innocent should be punished," Patel said.
"Some of the key witnesses in the case changed their versions. Why so? This needs to be clarified as it remains unanswered," he said. A few key prime accused in the case have also been acquitted which shows that the police has been unable to gather sufficient evidence against them, Patel said.
