About 600 tonnes of explosives sent from a Rajasthan-based factory have gone missing on their way to Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Friday.
Sagar Inspector General Anvesh Manglam told PTI that 61 trucks carrying the explosives were sent from Rajasthan Explosives and Chemicals Limited in Dholpur to a trading company in Sagar 'Ganesh Magazine'. The explosives were sent over a period of four months between April to July.
The explosives were worth Rs 1.30 crore.
Manglam said the last consignment was to reach Sagar four days back but there was no trace of the vehicle or the missing explosives.
He said there was a possibility that the explosives may have fallen into wrong hands.
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta said investigations were on and efforts were being made to locate the missing trucks.
"Four police teams had been sent to Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra to trace them," he said.
