Bangalore Police Commissioner Jyoti Prakash Mirji has requested the media to exercise restraint while reporting the issue pertaining to the assassination plot.

Speaking to editors of various media organisations in Bangalore, Mirji said that some officers had passed on wrong information to the media.

"Moreover, the home ministry has told us not to brief the media on a day to day basis and go about our investigations," he said.

He further added that the case on hand is not an ordinary one and has very wide ramifications. "It has a communal angle to it and we are looking into it. We seek the cooperation of the media in this case and hope that they would exercise restraint," he said.

Mirji also updated the editors regarding the probe and said that the latest person to be arrested is Dr Nayeem Siddiqui.

However, despite many other media organisations terming Siddiqui as a HuJI recruiter, the Bangalore police have not said so.

"We have arrested one more person Dr Nayeem Siddique from Bangalore on the evening of 2.9.2012.  One laptop, one mobile phone and cash of Rs10,000 has been seized from his possession. The accused, a native of Davengere, was in touch with the other accused arrested in this case and was providing logistical and financial support to their activities," he informed.

The accused will be produced before the jurisdictional court after following due procedure, he also said.
