One terrorist has been killed in an ongoing encounter in north Kashmir's Sopore town, a police spokesman informed on Sunday evening.
He said troops of 22 Rashtriya Rifles and special operations group (SOG) of the state police jointly surrounded Noorbagh locality of the Sopore town, 54 km from Srinagar on Sunday evening on a specific information.
"The holed up terrorists have been engaged in an encounter and so far one terrorist has been killed," the spokesman said in a statement.
"The encounter is still going on," it added.
One civilian who was injured in the exchange of fire was shifted to hospital for treatment.
However, the exact number of holed up terrorists is not known.
