Security forces have surrounded a house in the Maloora village on the outskirts of SrinagarĀ on a specific tip-off about the presence of a group of terrorists inside it.
A senior police officer said troops of the 2 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police personnel moved in early Thursday morning and surrounded the village to mount searches. Having realised that their presence had been known, the holed-up terrorists opened fire.
"We have identified the house in which the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists are holed up and operation against them is on," the officer said.
Intermittent firing exchanges are continuing in the village.
