Two Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants were on Thursday killed in an encounter with security forces in the border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.
Upon receiving specific information about the presence of militants, a joint team of police and Army launched a search operation in Chamraid area of Bafliaz belt of the district on Thursday morning, police said.
As the team approached the area, militants opened fire on the security forces, leading to a gun battle between the two sides, they said.
Two militants belonging to LeT outfit were killed and their bodies recovered from the encounter site. The police said that the identity of the slain militants was being ascertained.
