Bakr Eid to be celebrated on December 21

Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on December 21. The announcement was made by chief priests of two prominent mosques in the capital, the Fatehpuri Masjid and the Jama Masjid on Tuesday.

"The new moon of Zil Haj was sighted and Eid-ul-Azha will be on December 21," Maulana Mufti Mohammed Mukkaram, the Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid, said.

A similar announcement was made by Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari.

Eid-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakr Eid, is a commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son for God.
