A moderate intensity earthquake hit Kashmir Valley on Monday evening as people were home celebrating Eid.
The temblor shook homes as residents in the capital city and town ran out of homes in panic.
Meteorological department officials told rediff.com that the quake measured 6 on the Richter scale with epicenter in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan.
No damages have been reported.
