Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has said his father Sunil Dutt, who was a Congress leader, might have been upset over his decision to join hands with the Samajwadi Party.
"Maybe, he would have been (upset) but I would have managed to convince him (Sunil Dutt). Because I think Congress and Samajwadi Party share similar views of secularism, of helping the people in the nation. I think that is why they are in alliance," Dutt told NDTV.
The remarks by the actor, who will be SP's Lok Sabha poll candidate from Lucknow, came just days after his sister Priya Dutt, a Congress MP from Mumbai, had expressed disappointment over his plans to join Samajwadi Party.
Reacting to speculation of a growing rift between his wife and sister, Sanjay said: "No, Maanyata is my wife and there is no two words about it. She is my family as of now and always will be.
"....In any family in the world when a girl comes..., there are problems and we will sort them out", he added.
