India is recording more then 20,000 coronavirus infections a day for the last six days.
The total cases in the country rose to 1,14,09,831 on Tuesday morning, while the death toll increased to 158,856, with 131 fresh fatalities.
On the other hand, more than 3 million Indians were inoculated against COVID-19 on March 15, the highest in a day so far, taking the total number of vaccine doses administered in the country to 3,29,47,432.
Six states -- Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat -- account for more then 86.37 per cent of the new cases.
