Dom's Take: The Vaccine Dilemma

On January 3, India's drugs regulator approved the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, manufactured by the Serum Institute Of India.

Bharat Biotech's indigenously developed Covaxin was also approved simultaneously for restricted emergency use in the country, paving the way for a massive inoculation drive.

The approval granted to Bharat Biotech has raised questions on the emergency approval to its coronavirus vaccine Covaxin without publication of efficacy data.

The Drugs Controller General of India meanwhile quelled speculation surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines regarding impotency, rubbishing such rumours as 'complete nonsense' and asserted that the vaccines are 110 per cent safe.
