As India recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections in a day on Thursday, April 8, some states are facing a shortage of vaccines, particularly Maharashtra and Odisha.
Most of the vaccination centres in Mumbai and surrounding districts reported a shortage of vaccines resulting in the centres being shut down.
Though India is the largest producer of COVID-19 vaccines, many states are facing shortage of vaccines and have appealed to the Modi government, which is the central distributing authority for the vaccines, to release more doses.
