The Bharatiya Janata Party scored its first success in deep south India on Monday when it engineered the fall of the V Narayanasamy-led Congress government in Puducherry.
The BJP is anxious to capture power in Tamil Nadu and Kerala -- states which have entrenched political forces unlike Puducherry which has seen instability over the years -- and DMK leaders in Chennai and Congress leaders in Thiruvanathapuram must be wary about the current avatar of the BJP deploying its by now familiar copybook of money power and intimidation in their domains to lure partymen to its side.
