The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against Dhanalakshmi Gowda, an Indian Administrative Service officer (2000 Uttar Pradesh batch), presently working as director in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income

She was also a private secretary to S M Krishna.

It is alleged that she, while working as public servant, acquired huge assets, both immovable and movable in her name, as well as in the name of her mother who is a housewife.

She has been found in possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of approximately Rs 3.15 crore. Most of these assets have allegedly been acquired by her as benami properties in her mother's name, who abetted to acquire the assets in her name.

The CBI conducted searches at four places in New Delhi and Bengaluru at the residential and official premises of the accused on friday. The documents seized during the raids are under scrutiny.
