Congress General Secretary, Digvijay Singh said on Friday that Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari should learn about parliamentary affairs and institutions before making comments.
"Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and senior BJP leader and Public Accounts Committee chairman Murli Manohar Joshi have better knowledge of parliamentary affairs and institutions than Gadkari who needs to learn about them," the Congress general secretary said in a statement in Bhopal.
Singh was reacting to Gadkari's recent newspaper interview in which he had said that the Prime Minister did not have knowledge of parliamentary affairs and the PAC has limited powers compared to the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
He demanded that a resolution for breaching parliamentary privilege should be brought against Gadkari for saying that PAC has limited powers.
Describing Manmohan Singh's offer to appear before the PAC in connection with 2G spectrum scam as a historical step in country's democracy, the Congress general secretary said that no PM in independent India has offered to appear before the PAC.
