Icy cold winds continued to hit Delhi Wednesday bringing the mercury down to below normal levels in the city and its adjoining areas, which were covered by a thin layer of smog.
North westerly winds, blowing for the last two days, kept the chill in the air as the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.3° C, one degree below normal during this time of the season, the weather office said.
The minimum temperature Tuesday was 6.4° C, two degrees below normal.
A thin layer of smog enveloped parts of Delhi, which had experienced balmy weather for most of last week when maximum temperatures touched 27° C.
The maximum temperature recorded Wednesday morning was 21.0° C, they said.
There were no reports of delays in air operations and all morning flights departed from Delhi on time, airport officials said.
Rail services continued to be affected with a few Delhi-bound trains running behind schedule.
Katihar-Delhi AST-KIR Express and Darbhanga-Delhi Saryuyamuna Express was running late by over six hours and five hours respectively, while Chennai-New Delhi G T Express was late by over four hours, Northern Railway said.
