The defamation suit was filed by Indian Police Service officer, Hemanth Nimbalkar, reports Vicky Nanjappa.

The Karnataka high court on Wednesday issued a notice to former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde in connection with a defamation suit filed against him. Justice Anand Byra Reddy, while admitting the appeal, ordered issuing notices against Justice Hegde and others.

The defamation suit was filed by Indian Police Service officer, Hemanth Nimbalkar, originally before the civil court. Nimbalkar was contended that when he was the superintendent of police, Belgaum, a raid was conducted against him and the details of his income, disproportionate to his known source of income, was made public. However, the suit was dismissed by the civil court last year following which Nimbalkar preferred an appeal before the Karnataka high court.
