Dalit attacked for marrying upper caste girl, critical

A Dalit youth, who had married an upper caste girl against the wishes of her family, was attacked and seriously wounded in Motihari town in Bihar's East Champaran district. He is now battling for his life in a hospital.
Krishna Prasad Ram was attacked by his wife's relatives, who abducted her and assaulted their six-month old baby.
Ram along with his wife Khushboo and child arrived at the Motihari railway station in by the Jan Nayar Express from Delhi and spent the night on the platform. He was stabbed with a knife and his wife was abducted by some motorcyclists,
the police said. He was later beaten by Khushboo's relatives.
Motihari Superintendent of Police Ganesh Kumar said that an FIR had been lodged at the police station against Khusboo's uncle and father -- Manoj Singh and Ranvijay.
Kumar said that the police raided the house of accused but they were absconding. He said that earlier Khushboo's father had complaint against Ram for kidnapping his daughter. "The matter is still pending with the police," he said.
Ram and Khusboo had come to Motihari to appear in the court in connection with the kidnapping case.
