Jawan kills boss over leave petition

A Central Reserve Police Force trooper shot dead his deputy commandant in south Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday.

Head Constable Ram Swaroop submitted a leave application to Deputy Commandant S Nair of the 143 Battalion, located at Awantipur, sources said, adding that the officer turned down the application.

The head constable then fetched his service pistol and opened fire at Nair, who died on the spot.

Swaroop was later arrested.
