An exchange of gunfire is on between the Central Reserve Police Force and Maoists in the Kaneri forest near Pendhri in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra since early Friday morning, police said.
The firing between the two sides began at around 7.30 am and was still continuing, police said.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the Naxal hideout in the forest area, personnel belonging to the CRPF 192 batallion rushed to the site.
On seeing the forces, the Naxals opened firing.
