Officials said the encounter took place in the Hesalo-Pirtanr area of the said district. During an exchange of gunfire with Maoists a commando of CRPF's elite Commando Battalion for Resolute Action unit was shot.
Commando B Harizen of the 203rd Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) has been killed in the encounter, they said.
One more trooper of the CRPF is said to be injured in the operation as per preliminary reports, they said.
