Communist Party of India-Marxist Politburo member Sitaram Yechuri on Monday cautioned the United Progressive Alliance government not to take decisions that did not fall within the framework of Common Minimum Programme.

Refuting charges that CPI-M was adopting 'double standards', he said his party stood by the common man.

He warned people not to be 'misled' by the propaganda of 'communal and parochial forces'.

"People's mandate was against such forces in 2004," he said, adding these forces will not be allowed to come to power in future.

Yechuri also appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to adopt the pattern followed by West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya in key policies like privatisation of public sector units and foreign investments in India.

"The Union government should not unconditionally surrender before the ill-motivated designs of the US to grab underdeveloped countries with a view to expand its reign," Yechuri alleged.
