Shiv Sena executive chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday lashed out at the Congress saying that the party needed everything imported, including a leader.

His comments came in the backdrop of Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan's comments that the government will hire foreign coaches to train upcoming sportspersons from the state.

"Now, Chavan has announced to appoint foreign coaches. The country is already importing food items like wheat and milk. They (Congress) need everything imported and an imported leader also," Uddhav said during a function to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the party's weekly 'Marmik' here.

Chavan had made the comments while felicitating shooter Tejaswini Sawant yesterday.

Uddhav said the state government was not doing anything to control the rise of malaria in the Mumbai.

"Where is the government when the whole city has been facing malaria trouble? Chavan can wait for three hours for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his visit to the city but he is not seen controlling malaria," he said.

Questioning Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's ability to lead the nation, Uddhav wondered why she was quiet about corruption allegations against Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi and the Supreme Court's criticism on rotting wheat in godowns.
