Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday said the United Progressive Alliance government will enact a model, comprehensive law to deal with communal violence.

"The law will provide for uniform compensation for loss of lives, honour and property due to communal violence," Gandhi said while addressing the general body meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party in New Delhi.

The law will also have provisions to ensure expeditious investigation of such violence, she said.

Gandhi told the CPP members that the government will also establish an Administrative Reforms Commission and another commission to look into the issue of Centre-state relations.

Besides, laws are also being amended to ensure equality for women, she said.

Gandhi said a number of Bills will be introduced in the winter session of Parliament, in keeping with the commitments "we have made in our manifesto and in the Common Minimum Programme."

The Bill to establish a National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions to facilitate direct affiliation of minority institutions to central universities will also be tabled shortly, she said.

The government is also committed to amend the Right to Information Act to increase transparency and empower panchayat institutions, the UPA chairman said.
