Senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee on Monday said his party would form an alliance with Trinamool Congress before the assembly elections due next year.
"We had made an alliance with Trinamool before the last Lok Sabha elections. Similarly, we will forge an alliance with it for Bengal assembly elections as well," Mukherjee told mediapersons.
On the challenges facing the party, he said Congress was not bothered about other political parties.
"The biggest challenge before us is not from any political party but the focus is to maintain peace and harmony in the country", the finance minister said.
Asked about the rising prices of essential commodities, Mukherjee blamed it on the rise in international oil prices. He said the prices of onions had come down after the government started importing it.
