A three member high-powered Committee of Experts was constituted on Friday with the approval of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to suggest measures to expedite process involved in disciplinary and vigilance proceedings.

Former Union Public Service Commission chairman P C Hota, former secretary (personnel) Arvind Verma and former Central Vigilance Commission chairman P Shankar were appointed as committee members.

The committee has been given two months time to submit its recommendation report.

With this committee in position, the focus of the United Progressive Alliance II government is to ensure that the vigilance cases are quickly disposed off.

But, at the same time, the UPA II government is dragging its feet in filling up the two vacancies in the CVC, since last year.
