The government on Wednesday told the Rajya Sabha it was looking into media reports, which alleged that a South African arms manufacturer had paid commission on Indian defence deals.

"We will look into it," Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee said during Question Hour.

Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat rejected the notice given on the issue by Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Ram Deo Bhandary saying the minister had already said he would look into the matter.

The minister said whenever these matters were brought to the notice of the government 'we definitely take action'.

He, however, said there was an elaborate procedure to follow in such matters.

Mukherjee said he had seen the report in a television news channel and a newspaper and would look into it.
