The Central Bureau of Investigation is likely to register a case against former Minister of State for Coal of the United Progressive Alliance-I government, Santosh Bagrodia, and on his kin, including his younger brother Satish, who has bagged the mining contract of the National Thermal Power Corporation block in Jharkhand.

The CBI has already interrogated both the brothers in Coalgate scam. Satish’s firm has bagged a huge mining contract to the tune of Rs 2,300 crore at Pakri-Barwadih in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district.

A preliminary enquiry had been registered earlier and the investigating agency has also sought a report from the chief vigilance officer of the NTPC.

CBI Director Ranjeet Sinha said that the agency would take appropriate action as and when required.
