Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Sunday called for enhanced cooperation between India and China in high-technology areas.

There are also a lot of areas in which new opportunities can be explored, Wen said while visiting Indian Space Research Organisation's Satellite Centre, India's main centre for satellite development.

ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair made a presentation on India's space programme to Wen and the Chinese delegation that accompanied him.

"Basically, it was a sensitisation visit. He (Wen) generally expressed the view that there are a lot of areas for cooperation and avenues in high-technology areas," Nair told PTI after the Chinese premier's visit.

India has a memorandum of understanding with China in space applications in the area of remote sensing.

"We are in touch with CNSA (China National Space Agency)," Nair said. "We also have a joint working group, which meets once in a year."
