A day after the Supreme Court declared as null and void over one hundred universities in Chhatisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday assured the students that his government will try its best to save their future.

"The future of about 40,000 students is hanging in balance due to a wrong step taken by the previous government. After going through the Supreme Court order, we will do the best possible thing to save their future," Singh said.

Maintaining that the Supreme Court order will be adhered to, the chief minister expressed surprise over some universities functioning in just two-room

structures.

The apex court had on Friday termed as unconstitutional a law allowing establishment of private universities in the state and declared null and void over 100 universities.
