A constable of the Chandigarh police on Saturday shot himself and his son dead, while injuring his wife, at his residence in Naya Gan village on the outskirts of the city, police said.
Hira Lal, 35, and his son died on the spot. His wife has been admitted to a local hospital.
The motive behind the crime is not immediately known, police said, adding that the bodies had been sent for post mortem to a hospital in Mohali.
