Supreme Court on Monday fixed April 13 to hear a petition filed by the Tamil Nadu government challenging the Madras high court verdict quashing a law scrapping the Common Entrance Test for admission to medical and engineering colleges for students of the State Board.

A Bench comprising Justice K G Balakrishnan and Justice P P Naolekar issued notices to the students who had challenged before the high court the law, which required non-State Board students to appear for the CET.

The court sought a reply within two weeks on the petition filed by Tamil Nadu government. The court said issue of stay of the high court order would be decided on April 13 itself.
