Taking note of the sentiments expressed by different sections of the society, the Centre on Sunday said it would not take a hasty decision on legalising homosexuality.

"We have taken note of the sentiments expressed by cross sections of the people and that is why the government is not hasty to form its opinion to be submitted to the Supreme Court," Union Law and Justice Minister M Veerappa Moily said.

Noting that the parties concerned had moved the Supreme Court against the recent Delhi High Court judgment decriminalising homosexuality, he said the apex court had issued a notice to the Centre. "We are yet to react to it. We are considering the views to be taken (by the government)," he said.

He said the Law Commission had also submitted a report on Section 377 pertaining to same gender sex and the government was yet to take a view on it.
