In letter written on Tuesday, Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh told Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi that central government will spend Rs 970 crore in the upgradation project, while 22 crore will be borne by the Gujarat government.
The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, launched in 2000, is a centrally sponsored scheme to provide all-weather road connectivity in rural areas of the country.
