Border Security Force has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan Rangers over ceasefire violation in forward areas of Poonch and Kathua districts along the Indo-Pak border, in which a BSF jawan and a civilian were injured.

In the sixth case of ceasefire violation, the Pakistani troops had resorted to unprovoked firing along the Indo-Pak border on Saturday.

They also targeted Indian posts along LoC in Poonch.

"We have lodged a strong protest with Pakistan Rangers today, over firing and ceasefire violation, at a flag meeting on International Border in Pansar forward belt of Hiranagar," a senior BSF officer said.

However, the officer said that Pakistani troops denied their role in the firing.

"Pakistan Rangers denied their involvement in firing during the meeting when the BSF raised the issue with them," he said, adding "this is their usual reply that they do not know about the incident".

A team of BSF officers, led by Assistant Commandant J S Pundir, held a flag meeting with Pakistan Rangers at Border Pillar number 15 in Pansar Post along the IB in Samba district on Sunday.
