A Central Bureau of Investigation notice was on Friday served on Balkrishna, a close aide of yoga guru Ramdev, asking him to present his original documents related to his education before the probe agency on Saturday. The notice was served to Balkrishna on Friday morning at Patanjali Yogpeeth through Kankhal police station, official sources said in New Delhi.

Balkrishna has been asked to come along with his original educational documents before CBI in its office in Dehradun on Saturday.

Patanjali Yogpeeth officials in Haridwar confirmed that the notice has been received, but said they have no idea whether Balkrishna would himself go to CBI office with documents or someone else would deliver them.

The stay on the arrest of Balkrishna, who is facing charges of using fake educational degrees for procuring a passport, expires on August 29, the date fixed by the Uttarakhand high court for next hearing.

The CBI wants to use the documents related to Balkrishna's education in getting the stay vacated on his arrest so that he could be arrested, the sources said.

The investigating agency had earlier grilled Balkrishna two times earlier this month but failed to get required information from him. The high court had on July 29 granted the stay on arrest of Balkrishna and asked him to cooperate with the CBI in investigations.

The CBI had registered a case against Balkrishna for cheating and criminal conspiracy for procuring fake degree and violation of Section 12 of Indian Passport Act for furnishing fake documents to get a passport.
