Asserting that he always favoured cordial relations with neighbouring states, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Wednesday suggested chief minister-level talks in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for a negotiated settlement to the Hogenakkal issue with Tamil Nadu.
In a brief interaction with the reporters on his arrival at the airport in Chennai, he said he had already met the prime minister one month ago and explained Karnataka's stand on the issue.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader said he had also suggested to the prime minister for chief minister-level talks in his presence to arrive at an amicable solution and a negotiated settlement.
"It was for the prime minister to take a decision on the issue," he added.
Yeddyurappa, who is on a personal visit to Chennai, said he always favoured cordial relations with neighbouring states.
"I always want friendly relations with neighbouring states and I continue to follow it," he said.
