304 cases against security personnel in JK: Govt

Jammu and Kashmir government said Monday that 304 cases of various nature have been registered across the state against personnel of the security forces including those from the local police during the last three years.

In a written reply to a question by an independent MLA Engineer Abdul Rashid, the state home department informed that 304 cases have been registered in various police stations of the state.

Out of these 164 were registered in the entire Jammu division and 140 in Kashmir Valley.

In the Valley, 36 such cases were registered in Srinagar district followed by 15 in Baramulla, 14 in Sopore and 10 in Ganderbal district.

The government also said that the accused had been chargesheeted in 230 cases in various courts.

The government also said that five of the 304 cases are still untraced.
