At least 37 people, including two women, were killed and more than 25 injured when an overcrowded bus carrying a marriage party fell into a ditch at Nagarasu area in Rudraprayag district of Uttaranchal on Tuesday.
The bus was going to Maithani in Chamoli district from Srinagar (Garhwal) when it skidded off the road rolling down into a 150-meter ditch, Superintendent of Police Pushkar Singh Sailal said.
Twenty-eight people, including two women, died on the spot, while nine succumbed to their injuries in hospital, he said.
