The authorities have shifted 12 passengers of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus -- which will start services on April 7 -- from Poonch and Rajouri districts to Jammu city citing better security arrangements, official sources said on Sunday.

The decision was taken following death threats from Al-Nasreen militant outfit.

Eight passengers from Rajouri and four from Poonch were shifted to a hotel in Jammu, where multi-tier security has been activated, the sources added.

Of the 29 passengers cleared to board the inaugural bus, 14 belong to Jammu region and 15 to Kashmir.

Besides the 12 passengers, former Deputy Commissioner of Poonch Khalid Hussain and his wife Naseeem Firdos in Jammu city too have been provided high-level security after they allegedly received death threats from militants.

The passengers would be taken to Srinagar on April 5 for their onward journey to Muzaffarabad, the sources said.
