Six Border Security Force troopers and six civilians were injured in a powerful car bomb explosion near Hyderbora in uptown Srinagar on Saturday evening.

Police said the injured BSF troopers and civilians have been evacuated to hospital for treatment.

Senior police and paramilitary officers along with reinforcements have rushed to the spot and the area around the blast site has been cordoned off for searches.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.

A senior police officer said militants detonated explosives in a car as a BSF vehicle carrying troopers passed the area.

"The BSF vehicle was damaged in the explosion," the police officer told rediff.com.
