People of Jammu region bordering Pakistan and Border Security Force personnel posted along the frontier erupted in joy as Indian cricket team scored a 76-run win over the neighbouring country's squad in the World Cup on Sunday.

As soon as India won the match, people in large numbers came out on roads Jammu and started celebrating the victory in the first game played between the two sides in Adelaide Oval in Australia, by distributing sweets and bursting firecrackers.

"For Indians, especially the resident of Jammu and Kashmir, which shares its border with Pakistan, any game between India and Pakistan is seen as the final of the world cup and today we have once again won the game," Jaipreet Singh, a resident of Gandhi Nagar locality in Jammu said.

Singh said that he along with his friends would celebrate the victory of team India over Pakistan.

"The

celebrations would go on for the whole night, we have shown the world that we will never let the men in green win in any game of the world cup," Singh said.

The jawans of the Border Security Force deployed along the International Border also celebrated the victory of team India by distributing sweets among themselves.

"There is euphoria among the BSF jawans deployed along the international border, right now the celebrations are going on by distributing sweets amongst each other," a senior BSF officer said.

He said that the jawans are happy that team India did not allow the Pakistani side to break its record of not losing a world cup game to them.

"Pakistan has never been able to win a world cup game from India regardless of how close the matches have been, be it 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011 and now we have added 2015 to the list," he said.

He said that while the celebrations would be on, there would be no let up in the vigil along the border.
